Ten sentenced of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced charges of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting hurtful comments about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.

The court delivered suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.

A longstanding conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their complaint states that Owens ignored all credible evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.

The two married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
